EOMAC gonzo spirit at Brantford

On Saturday night Oct 17 a keen gang of 23 EOMAC members descended on Brantford’s Gretzky pool for their first local meet of the season.

This is a great meet in many ways…it provides an easy, less formal intro to Masters competition for the rookies…we had 5 new members at their first meet ever, pretty scary for them but they all performed very well.

Beginners and veterans alike love this meet for its 25m events…our only meet all year with such short races….splash and dash! Sadly the meet was not as well-attended by other clubs so there was very little rest between our events…a real workout actually.

Members competing were:
Women
Tineke Bertelink, Millie Bishop, Maria Cherry, Marcela de Laat, Liz Dineen, Marenca Kherani, Jacqueline Odlum, Peggy Salter and Allison Tipler.

Men
Jed Churcher, Mark Cutajar, Bruno Degrigny, Barkley Hunt, Gabriel Krozkin, Charlie Lane, Michael Macpherson, James Menzies, Aziz Mohamed, Ken Morris, Chris Nagy, Bob Norris, Steve Sorocky, Daniel Szamosi.

Special mention to Tineke Bertelink who set this year’s first club record by taking a full second off her 100 free time set at Nationals in May.

And a big thanks to Kalis Rasmussen who didn’t feel well enough to compete but she came all the way to Brantford to cheer for us….that’s the EOMAC spirit!

Thanks too to Coach Brent for being there for us.

The after-meet food was great but the highlight was Daniel winning a good bottle of wine in the raffle….no, he did not share.
