EOMAC Swims Brantford

Only 14 of us swam at Brantford this year (24 last year) but we made up for it in enthusiasm and great swimming.  No club records were broken, but once again Chris Nagy’s relay start came within 0.22sec of the mighty Tony Jarvis’s 50 free World Record time from 1981…25.72 vs 25.50.

As usual at the first meet of the season it was 6 of our new members including Carole Konstantinou, Chantal Tome(50Fly and 100Fr wins)and Colin Briggs (a smokin’ 1:02 Free)who provided much of the excitement, and especially the real newbies like Marina Silverio, Osama Saddique and Madeleyne Vivanco. We won’t soon forget their first fitful dives and tentative turns…and of course Marina’s relay anchor was extraordinary at her first-ever meet…well done! And lane 2’s 50 free challenge match was truly amazing between Madeleyne and Charlie, but experience and cunning beats youth and beauty every time.  Rounding out the team were Ibrahim Attieh, Maria Cherry, Mark Cutajar, Gabriel Krozkin and also Anna Togias who excelled at the buffet after the meet.

Now we have just 2 weeks till our own meet so work on your drills and try to improve on those times.  Thanks to coach Brent for giving up his Saturday night, and special thanks to his daughter who performed admirably as our recorder.
