Year in Review 2013 – 2014

The World Masters Championships in Montreal this summer was an unprecedented success for EOMAC. Our swimmers amassed 56 EOMAC club records (ER), including 13 Canadian records (CR) and 18 Ontario records (OR). One of the Canadian records was our 320+ mixed freestyle relay, the first relay CR in many years.
But the majority of our records were set at Provincials and Nationals (both in Windsor), at two yards meets in Buffalo and Alderwood. The total number of records broken was the most in the history of EOMAC (175 ER, 65 OR and 34 CR).
Many members contributed to this total, but one swimmer stood head and shoulders above the rest. Kalis Rasmussen, 90 yrs young, set 17 CR, 32 OR and 33 ER. She was awarded EOMAC’s highest honour for competitive excellence this year, the Pluntke-Lutman Trophy.
Other award winners were:

  • Pluntke-Lutman (Mens): Al Statkevicius
  • Wavelengths: Chris De Laat
  • Syd Fagan: Chris De Laat
  • Charlie Lane: Michael Macpherson
